George Garvey Kehoe (Playwright) is the grandson of Irish immigrants. Born in Dallas, he grew up in New Orleans and since 1982 has lived in Oxford, where he works as an actor and writer and teaches as an adjunct instructor in the University of Mississippi English Department. Recent stage work includes four seasons with the Oxford Shakespeare Festival (2004-2007), the title role in Como Opera Guild's The Impresario by Mozart (2005), and the role of Stage Manager in UM's production of Our Town (2005). Hungry is his first major work composed for the stage. "Thanks be to God and to my wife, Deborah, without whom I'd be dead in a gutter, and who wrote some of the best lines in the play. My soulmate, best friend, and dear co-worker."
Christopher Schager (Director) received his Bachelor's of Arts in Theatre from San Francisco State University in 1991, and a Master's Degree in Theatre from the University of Mississippi in 1996. Schager has acted and directed in more than 200 theatrical productions, with several film credits as well. Since graduating from UM, Schager has worked throughout the state of Mississippi and the surrounding Southeast region. Residing in Oxford, Mr. Schager's experience includes positions with the Oxford School District, the Oxford Park Commision, and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council. Currently, Schager serves as Theatre Director for Northeast Mississippi Community College. He is the founder and Artistic Director for the O'Connor Theatre Project, a company dedicated to the development to new plays and alternative theatre. Through O'Connor, Schager co-founded Theatre Oxford in 1997, and the award-winning Hooligans, Oxford's hilarious sketch comedy and improvisational troupe, from 1999-2003.
Alex Mauney (Actor) recieved his B.F.A. in Acting from the University of Mississippi in May. His credits include Cyrano de Bergerac, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Grapes of Wrath, She Loves Me, Oklahoma, and The Weatherman. Alex has worked extensively with North Mississippi theatre companies including Oxford Shakespeare Festival, Northeast Mississippi Community College, Corinth Theatre-Arts, and Free Time Players. Alex's musical talents include acoustic guitar, alto and baritone saxophones, harmonica, and has spent several years recording both music and sound designs for theatrical productions. He is very honored to originate such a beautiful and dynamic role. He thanks his family, his friends, and the Hungry production team for this tremendous opportunity.
Allyson Cartwright (Stage Manager) has been involved in theatre for the last 9 years, compiling a resume of over 50 shows, with both onstage and backstage experience. She received her Associate of Arts degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 2007 and will graduate with a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Mississippi in May 2010. An actor in her own right, her roles include Emily Dickenson, Sylvia, Mrs. Elvstead, and Natalia Stepanovna. Allyson began stage managing in 2001 and never looked back. Those credits include Hungry, The Mikado, She Loves Me, Once Upon a Mattress, Steel Magnolias, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Alice in Wonderland, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, and The 1940's Radio Hour. Currently, she is stage managing The Tempest for the Oxford Shakespeare Festival.
Rene Pulliam (Voice Coach and Business Manager) has been head of the BFA program in Musical Theatre at the University of Mississippi since 1993. She received her BA in Music from Whittier College in 1972 and her MFA in Dance/Choreography from Mills College in 1992. She has directed and/or choreographed hundreds of musicals across the United States, including the West Coast premiers of Smile, Closer than Ever, and Over Here and was awarded the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Award for her choreography on No, No Nanette and Good News. Her performance credits include television, commercials, and touring companies. She is an Associate Teacher of the Fitzmaurice Voice Work.
